Corporate & Community Workshops

These workshop topics are adapted from our curriculum for girls so that adult participants not only walk away with valuable professional development, but also gain an understanding of the skills, lessons, and tools that we offer girls in our programs that can benefit adults, too!

The facilitators who deliver these trainings are what we call “girl experts” which is to say they are trained in the fields of social work, youth development, gender studies, and education. Our experts help youth (and adults) develop self-efficacy, or an individual’s belief in their own success, by developing what we call our Six Cs—confidence, coping skills, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity.

Self-Compassion

In our fast-paced, working world, it is easy to get swept up in the day-to-day stress of trying to do it all. Be great at your job. Be loving in your relationships. Be kind to yourself. But, it isn’t easy when failures occur every day and we compare ourselves to the curated narratives of others. So, how do we combat that inner voice that is always questioning if we are enough?

Using Dr. Kristen Neff’s research, this workshop will explore the three tenants of self-compassion and how it can radically change the way we view ourselves and others. Self-compassion alleviates stress, creates more caring behaviors, and reduces reactive anger and jealousy. Practicing self-compassion brings awareness to how individuals can take charge to care for themselves and reap long-term benefits for work teams, reducing conflict, promoting teamwork, and eliminating burnout.

Personal & Professional Growth Mindset

What is stopping you? The stories we tell ourselves determine what we can accomplish. Are we feeding the imposter syndrome and the fixed mindset, or do we push ourselves to grow and learn? Using Dr. Carol Dweck’s research, this workshop will explore paradigm creation, fixed versus growth mindset, and how your mindset can unlock the tools you need to be your best self both professionally and personally.

Growth mindset can be used by executives and team leaders to motivate their employees and create a culture of learning. Participants will learn the benefits of adopting a growth mindset and experience a meaningful interactive discussion full of real-life stories.

The Power of Language

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are important and dynamic topics in organizations that are taking a closer look at how they operate. Bringing an awareness to how language is used and experienced is one way to role model greater inclusivity throughout an organization.

This workshop will explore the power of language, examine the impact of unconscious bias in how we speak to and about one another, and explore tools we can use to help create a felt sense of belonging in our workplace. Learn more about the latest research and participate in an interactive discussion delving into Girls Empowerment Network’s practices to create a culture of inclusion.

The State of Girls

In this presentation, our staff share the history and mission of Girls Empowerment Network and its work across Texas. We will facilitate a discussion exploring the challenges experienced by girls in society today and the opportunities they have to achieve gender equity.

We will review some of the larger topics and correlating statistics relevant to girls’ lives, including body image, mental health, coping skills, relationships, sexual harassment, social media, representation, and leadership. We will look at how empowering girls now reaps rewards in tomorrow’s workplace.

Volunteer Activations

In addition to the professional development workshops above, we can customize and facilitate volunteer opportunities in-person and virtually to help corporate teams learn more about how to empower girls, team build, and meet Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.

Relatable Role Model Letters
Girls are looking for meaningful ways to connect now more than ever, and that’s where you come in! For girls in grades 3-12, we want to include an inspiring element of connection in our program – Relatable Role Model Letters. These page-long letters aim to inspire, encourage, uplift, and celebrate girls throughout our community. This activation provides volunteers and girls a unique way of communicating and feeling connected. Letters can contain creative elements including: your favorite inspiring quote, insight about a role model/mentor that inspires you, or memories from your middle school experience when you were brave, kind, or used your voice to advocate for yourself or others.

Affirmation Bookmarks
Girls Empowerment Network has utilized our statewide conferences to bring our self-efficacy building curriculum to a vast number of girls at one time. In November 2023, we are thrilled to be bringing back our conference! For conference attendees, we strive to include these inspiring elements of connection in our event swag bags. Affirmation Bookmarks can contain creative elements including: positive mantras and affirmations, powerful quotes from trailblazers, stickers, doodles, and acrostic poems.
