What is We Are Girls?

The We Are Girls Conferences, produced by Girls Empowerment Network are held in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, Texas annually and are designed especially for thousands of 3rd – 8th grade girls and the adults who care about them. With dynamic break-out sessions and an empowering dance party, girls get to be totally in charge of their day. They walk away inspired by what’s possible and with a new belief in their personal power. The 2019-2020 theme is “Believe It and Become It.”

When is We Are Girls?

We Are Girls Austin Conference will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019. Doors will open at 8am and check-in is open until 9am. The final workshop will conclude at 3:00pm. We Are Girls Houston 2020 date is TBD.

Where is it?

We Are Girls Austin will take place at Anderson High School, 8403 Mesa Dr., Austin, TX 78759.

Who can attend We Are Girls?

We Are Girls is designed especially for girls in grades 3-8, and the adults that care about them, including but not limited to: parents, educators, and mentors.

How can I purchase tickets?

You can purchase tickets at www.wearegirlsaustin.eventbrite.com.

When and where should I check-in?

Please plan to arrive between 8 and 8:45 am. Check-in is from 8am until 8:45am in the cafeteria. The day’s festivities will begin promptly at 9am.

Is food available?

Yes! Lunch and an afternoon snack are provided. There will be vegetarian options. The provider is TBD.

What can I do with my younger children or son(s) while I’m at We Are Girls?

Childcare will be available onsite for children over 3 years of age. Children younger than 3 may attend breakout sessions with their parents if they do not present a distraction to others. You can register for childcare on our registration page at www.wearegirlsaustin.eventbrite.com.

Are dads welcome at We Are Girls?

Yes! Dads are welcome at all of our general parent workshops and the Featured Conference Speaker sessions.

How much does it cost to attend?

Tickets are $30 for individuals. Early bird pricing is $20 per person and is available through September 15th. The individual scholarship application opens in the middle of July 2019. Refunds are not available but you can donate purchased tickets to our scholarship fund for attendees that need financial assistance.

I want to bring a large group (10+ people.) What do I do?

Email Miranda@girlsempowermentnetwork.org for more information about large group registration. It’s super easy and we are here to assist you every step of the way.

Who is speaking at We Are Girls?

Our Featured Conference Speakers for We Are Girls Austin are TBD. The workshop presenters are volunteer community members that speak to multiple topics related to our mission. If you are interested in becoming a workshop presenter visit our website between July and September for the application link or CLICK HERE.

You can apply to be a Featured Conference Speaker year-round. You can learn more HERE!

What workshops can I attend?

Workshops are broken down into three age groups, 3rd to 5th grade, 6th to 8th grade, and Adults. Attendees are given a program upon check in and can choose from dozens of workshops that are designed for each age range or a combination of age ranges. You can attend workshops with people of different age ranges as well.

We allow attendees to pre-register for sessions if they pre-purchase the PRE-REGISTER ticket on Eventbrite. This ticket is only available until the beginning of October.

How do I volunteer for We Are Girls Austin?

We need hundreds of volunteers. Volunteer registration will open in the middle of August. Please note that you MUST be over the age of 15 to volunteer.
