Girls Empowerment Network Presents: Our Inspiring Conferences Return!

Girls Empowerment Network is thrilled to share exciting news with our supporters, partners, the girls* we serve, and the people who care about them. After a challenging hiatus caused by the pandemic, we are overjoyed for the return of our signature conference. Adding to the excitement of the anticipated comeback, we are proud to unveil that our event has also undergone a significant transformation, emerging as the all-new ‘Radiant G Conference’. 

 Reimagined, Revamped, and Empowering as Ever! 

The pause in our conferences, necessitated by the pandemic, was an opportunity for our organization to reimagine our Texas conferences and bring it back as the ‘Radiant G Conference’. Since 2008, Girls Empowerment Network has produced conferences across Texas, with events having been held in Austin, Houston, Manor, and Dallas, with the goal of delivering our self-efficacy building curriculum to many girls at once. These empowering conferences create a space for thousands of girls in grades 3-8 to come together, be inspired, and walk away with a new belief in their personal power. Formerly known as the "We Are Girls Conference” and ‘Girls Now’ in the past, the return of our signature event marks an exciting moment at Girls Empowerment Network. It stands as a vital opportunity for girls who currently don't have access to our in-school programs to experience our self-efficacy building curriculum.

Lighting the Way to Empowerment at the Radiant G Conference 

This inspiring event invites girls* in grades 3-8 and the people in their lives who care about them. This year’s theme, “Lightning the Way to Empowerment”, perfectly aligns with our Theory of Change and our investment in fostering change making, advocacy, and paving the way towards empowerment for young advocates. The Radiant G Conference features an impressive variety of participants, including community partners, dedicated volunteers, and keynote speakers who are passionate advocates and change makers.  

Attendees can expect engaging adult and youth workshops centering around our flagship self-efficacy building curriculum, ensuring an enriching experience for every attendee. Girls Empowerment Network is proud to bring back this event and to continue its mission of building self-efficacy, resilience, and welcoming back the much-needed sense of community for our Texas girls.

The Radiant G Conference is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, from 9AM to 2PM (doors open at 8AM) at Kealing Middle School in Austin, Texas. The dates for our Radiant G Conference in Houston are still to be confirmed but we expect it to be in Spring of 2024. For now, Houstonians who are interested in staying in the loop of the Radiant G Conference can fill out this interest form.

For a limited time only, attendees can take advantage of early-bird pricing on individual tickets. For girl advocates who are interested in bringing a group to our empowering conference, we encourage them to register here.

Empowering Change with Wendy Davis: Honorary Chair of the Radiant G Conference! 

We are honored to introduce Wendy Davis as the Honorary Chair of our Radiant G Conference. Her life journey, from being a teen mom facing poverty to becoming a Harvard Law School graduate, exemplifies resilience and determination in the pursuit of a fair, just and equal world. Serving in the Texas Senate for six years, Wendy's relentless advocacy for a better future has left an indelible mark. Her momentous filibuster to protect public schools and her stand for reproductive rights have solidified her as a powerful voice for change. 

Wendy's commitment to igniting the power in young women is evident through her work with the non-profit, Deeds Not Words, which activates and advocates for gender equity, reproductive autonomy, and access to voting rights. She continues to champion these causes and support frontline fighters for abortion care through her fund, "DefendTheFrontline.org." 

Now serving as a Senior Advisor to Planned Parenthood Texas Votes, Wendy officially joins the Planned Parenthood family after years of working alongside their tireless efforts to provide essential sexual and reproductive healthcare for all. We are immensely honored and grateful to have her support, knowledge, and passion as the Honorary Chair for our Radiant G Conference.
