Kayleigh Ates

Education:
Currently pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business at Texas State University

Experience: Prior to Girls Empowerment Network, Kayleigh spent six years in the financial services industry. During this time, she had the unique opportunity to teach elementary school and high school students financial literacy through delivering classroom presentations and working within a High School Branch. Kayleigh also gained experience in a variety of areas which included public speaking and tabling at community events. These experiences fueled her passion to teach and work with others in hopes of empowering their belief in themselves. Kayleigh is excited to bring this experience to her role at Girls Empowerment Network. She will be a first generation college student within her family and is extremely passionate about mental health advocacy. As a result, Kayleigh volunteers for NAMI and frequently participates in mental health awareness walks. In her free time, Kayleigh loves to spend time with her family, read and discover new movies.  

What I love about Girls Empowerment Network: Girls Empowerment Network is an organization that lives it's values and mission. I love that this can be seen, not only in the programming offered but also in the dedication and culture of the GIRLS team. To me, as an organization that builds self-efficacy, Girls Empowerment Network is the organization I needed when I was younger. As a result, I can think of nothing better than working to be the spark that helps another girl. Therefore, I feel deeply connected not only to the mission of Girls Empowerment Network but to the issues facing girls as well. I find it extremely rewarding to be a part of such a positive and fulfilling environment, while also making a meaningful impact in the community.
