Education:

  • Master of Music in Performance from Sam Houston State University

  • Master of Arts in Performance Studies from Texas A&M University

Experience: Prior to joining Girls Empowerment Network, Sal served as the Director of Operations for Austin Classical Guitar (ACG), an Austin-based arts non-profit organization with global reach. During his tenure at ACG, Sal served as the primary bookkeeper and was responsible for leading teams through financial audits and internal policy writing, providing support for strategic planning, contract drafting, program expansion, hiring practices, and managing and elevating the internship program.

As a music student, Sal focused his research on protest music from Mexico City in the 90s, which further developed an interest in advocacy and cemented a drive towards facilitating opportunities and social justice for others.

What I love about Girls Empowerment Network: I love that Girls Empowerment Network focuses on igniting the power in girls. Growing up with five sisters, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles that young women go through. As an adult, I realized that being surrounded by the strong women in my family has inspired me to become a better person and instilled a strong sense of empathy in me. I believe helping girls thrive is a necessary step towards a more equitable future and I’m excited to be part of a team working towards that goal.
