Development Specialist

Gisel Adame

Education:

  • Associate of Science in Business Administration

  • Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Sacramento State University

Experience: Prior to Girls Empowerment Network, Gisel had worked in the private sector during her years of college in Sacramento, CA. She has experience in content production, marketing strategy, and campaign building on social media. In 2016-2022 she became a regular volunteer for the Northern California Special Olympics, and frequently helped build playgrounds and gardens through her previous employer's CarMax Cares group.

Following her graduation in 2023, Gisel entered the field of conservation as an intern with the National Park Service in Alaska through the Latino Heritage Internship Program. Gisel played a key role in the development and execution of several campaigns during her internship with NPS. Youth were the focus of National Park Service programs in Nome, Alaska. Gisel felt it was encouraging to see the difference it made in their lives, and to give them a place to acquire new abilities.  After relocating to Austin, this motivated Gisel to work for Girls Empowerment Network from closely connecting to Indigenous communities, who are disproportionately marginalized and impacted.

What I love about Girls Empowerment Network: I love that Girls Empowerment Network provides such an inclusive, and safe environment for youth facing personal and environmental challenges. I'm happy to know that the community I'm a part of today offers programs that help with self-efficacy; because I too would have desired a program to help me during high school. Being a part of a women empowerment organization is something I am proud to say I belong to.
