Adultification is a form of dehumanization that robs children of the very essence of what makes childhood distinct from all other development periods -innocence. Adultification often results in children not being afforded the opportunity to make mistakes. Studies indicate that Girls of Color are punished more harshly, despite their status as children. We will examine these studies and discuss why.
