Diane Rane Jones

Experience: After moving to Austin in Spring of 2018, Diane was eager to get involved in the community doing work that aligned with her values. She was thrilled to discover Girls Empowerment Network and began working as a volunteer that Fall. Diane feels deeply grateful to join the Girls Empowerment Network team and continue that work as a Program Coordinator. In addition to her role at GIRLS, Diane also works as a Program Coordinator for Girls with Grit, an Austin-based non-profit working to prevent sex trafficking through education. Prior to her work with teens in Austin, Diane spent over 7 years working with middle and high school aged girls in both volunteer and professional capacities. Diane is also trained as a Mindful Self-Compassion teacher and is passionate about incorporating self-compassion into every aspect of her work and life.
What I love about Girls Empowerment Network: I love that Girls Empowerment Network’s mission is based on the belief that girls have the power within them to be unstoppable. Growing up in a world eager to tell them who they should be, it’s easy for girls to feel disconnected from that inner power. I know I did. I love that Girls Empowerment Network teaches girls skills and practices that support them in accessing and trusting that power. I am grateful to be part of a work community that is mission-driven and full of individuals who are passionate about what they do. I am honored to grow alongside girls in the Austin community who never cease to amaze me with their resilience, wisdom and strength.
